She has recently got into Composting, and now we can keep all of our vegetable scraps, old coffee grounds, egg shells, etc., waiting to go to the Compost Bin, in the kitchen with out the odor! The Charcoal Filter really works, and we use the bio-degradeable bags which you can throw in with the compost. A really neat idea!Great Little Scrap BucketThe charcoal filter keeps the scraps from smelling. It fits under my sink and the handle makes carrying the bucket to my compost bin a lot easier. It's a sturdy bucket that sit solidly on its bottom. I'm totally satisfied.Good value; easy to use/care forI love the look of the ceramic pails, but they are much too heavy to cart out to the compost bin so this was a good, cost-conscious alternative. Ceramic bins with metal liners are quite pricey! Counter space is always an issue and this has a small footprint but holds a good amount and, while not a ceramic pail, is much more appealing than the plastic ice cream bucket I was using.I have not yet used it in August, when we seem to have a brief annual invasion of fruit flies here in the South, but hopefully the locking lid + charcoal filter will be effective. I will try to update my review at the end of the summer. Going green with an inside compost bucketI have placed this on my kitchen counter, and find it easy to fill. I use a biodegradable liner with it, and find that sometimes the liner is gone before I get the pail emptied. It is pretty important, in my opinion, to use the liner and the charcoal filters with it, in order to keep odors under control. I feel very good about making my footprint smaller with the use of this. I take it out and empty it into my outdoor composter, and will be using the resulting compost in my garden. I have greatly reduced the garbage output, and improved the cleanliness of my garbage can!Nice Little ScrapbucketThe service from the vendor was great, no complaints. The kitchen compositing bucket is alright. It's quite light-weight, and while putting the lid on, one of the little bracket-holders was nearly bent off (and I wasn't forcing it!). But it does the job so I don't have to make a trip to the backyard composter everytime I have scraps to put in! I didn't buy the biodegradable bags to go in it, either.
