Good Pitcher

This pitcher is definitely an improvement over the older model I had. I've had it for a little over a year now and it has been well worth the money. It's easy to clean, easy to fill, and holds a fair amount of water. If you're a heavy water drinker I'd recommend one of the bigger containers so you don't have to constantly fill it. We fill it each time we take water from it, so we're usually never without cold water. Using this pitcher with a reusable water bottle such as a Klean Kanteen or a Sigg will really cut the expense and waste of buying bottled water. And, if you're into recycling, you can drop the used filters off at Whole Foods, or if you don't have a Whole Foods in your town, you can mail the filters back for recycling. The only downside to this pitcher is that it does not have an airtight seal. This normally isn't a problem, as the lid protects from flavors and odors in the fridge, but sometimes I'll forget to wrap something good and my water will taste like the food product. Not a huge deal, but something to consider.

I love it!

I love the sleek, slim design and it filters the water beautifully. We have very hard well water, and when I make tea with milk the inside of the cup gets covered with a scummy film. When I used the filtered water, I noticed immediately that the tea looked clear and beautiful in the cup--no film at all, even after the milk is added! I find the lid fits snugly (although I did have to put in on carefully to make sure it sealed all around) and one can pour the filtered water out with no unwanted spillage even if there is still water in the reservoir . The spout is shaped well and I love how the little spout lid comes up automatically when pouring, and I like that one can fill tap water in without having the take the lid off. My advice to those who are concerned that it takes long to fill/cool is to replace each glass of water as you use it. There should be enough cold water left to make subsequent glasses cold enough and the small amount the temperature is raised will be reduced quickly again. (Of course, this doesn't work if you're using the whole pitcher at once; in that case, a separate bottle or carafe is a good idea.) For those who are afraid the lid will come off while pouring (or maybe that was a complaint about other models), mine came packaged with the lid held on with one of those clingy pieces of plastic, the same material they give you for the replacement reminder calendar or that colorforms are made of. I put that over the lid and an inch or so down each side. You can't really see it, and although I'm not sure it's necessary it does guarantee that the lid stays on.

Good product and useful for almost everyone.

I'm a college student, and I have lived on campus for four years. I used to purchase large packs of bottled water because the tap water in the residence hall was far from drinkable. This was costly, and I realized how much plastic I was running through (even though I recycled). I purchased this Brita pitcher to keep in my fridge. I have had it for two years (thanks to the replaceable filters you can buy) and have had no problems. It paid for itself within the first month because I have not bought bottled water since. The filters make for a clean, crisper tasting water to drink. I also use filtered water to fill my ice cube trays, and even sometimes to cook with - you can really tell the difference. My only complaint is that sometimes the sediments that are inside the filter come out and still make their way to the bottom of the cup. Usually this only happens when you first put in a new filter, and you just have to run a few pitchers that you pour out instead of drinking. I highly recommend this filter to anyone, especially college students!

Good Pitcher for the price

Have been using this Brita pitcher for several months now and has been working good. I had one problem with a filter lasting not as long as the 3 month is describes. Besides that it filters the water great and has a great taste. Would definitely recommend over ever buying any bottled water again.

Basic pitcher with a replaceable filter.

It's hard to move it when you fill it at first or it will leak all over. You have to change the filter every six months, which goes by before you know it. I noticed sometimes there are little black rocks floating around which disturbed me. Otherwise for the price it's a basic pitcher.

Amazon.com Review

This pitcher combines Brita's reliable filtering with a very convenient narrow shape and flip-top lid for easy refills. To operate, simply flip the lid and fill the water reservoir, then wait a couple of minutes for it to filter through. The filter used with this system has been certified by NSF International, a testing authority for water filtration products, and reduces copper and eliminates 99% of lead in tap water. Using activated carbon as well as an ion exchange resin, it also reduces chlorine, bad tastes, odors, and sediment--making it a lot easier to drinkthe recommended eight glasses of water a day. It comes with one filter, lasting approximately two months, and the pitcher is clear with a white top. --Maria Dolan
