The problem was that I could not find this item in any stores, rendering my $100+ coffee maker useless. Specialty and big box stores all stock items based on expected sales, not necessarily customer needs. After your expensive item is 3-4 years old the demand for parts, such as this filter, goes down and the storers dont bother to stock therm amy longer. They would prefer I simply junk my old item ($100+) and by a new one. Were it not for placers like amazon.com we would have no choice. Online sales help keep brick and mortar stores in check.John Miller long lasting and environmentally soundI love this reusable filter. I've had it for probably 7 or 8 years now, and I use it every day. I'm not sure how much it would cost to buy paper filters for that length of time, but I'm sure it's paid for itself many times over by now! It makes good coffee in my krups 12-cup coffee maker, and doesn't add any of the "off" flavors I sometimes notice with paper filters. It's easy to clean, too. I just rinse it off between uses, and pop it in the dishwasher once in a while.And it's nice to know I'm not clogging up a landfill with hundreds of paper filters!
