Stainless Steel Compost Keeper

The stainless steel compost keeper was used, but looked like new when it arrived. It was shipped fast and well packed, and the price was better than buying a new one. It work great to keep compost in on my counter top and the filter eliminates the odor.

Almost perfect

All items on this are stainless and handle moisture well except the washers in the screws holding the handle on which are rusting and need to be replaced. I would still buy this over a plastic bin.

groovy, but FRUSTRATING

I loved everything about this compost crock EXCEPT that the lid fit too tightly. Unless it is about half full, the crock has to be held down with one hand while the lid is removed with the other. Annoying, because me, I always have a handful of scraps, leaving me only one hand free for lid removal. Everyone in my family has a crock (various brands) and mine is the only one that fits so tightly. It really feels like a flaw, and not just a design characteristic.

I sent my original lid back; they sent another. It was even bigger. Then after I measured my crock, first they said it wasn't theirs because it was 6 3/4" and theirs are all 7". Well, the "NORPRO" engraved on the bottom of it backed up my position, so they sent a new crock.

Then the weld on the lid they'd sent broke so the center of it rattled up and down. They sent another, but guess what?? IT WAS TOO TIGHT-FITTING. Again.

I've spent enough in postage back and forth at this point that I'm going to just buy a different brand.

I hope my experience is a lone one, but just wanted to caution others.

composter bank

bought because of good reviews, the one I received was very poor. It was impossible to open, secure like a bank vault. It almost takes two people to open it. I returned it for a refund.

Good Product

If you're a gardener into composting, this item is great for holding kitchen scraps on their way to the composter. It's big enough to hold a week's worth of scraps, but small enough to fit on your countertop. The filter is nice, too, for keeping down odors. (Be sure to order extra filter inserts.)
