It remains unused because of lack of instructions. If I could do it over, I would not purchase it.neat n tidyPurchased this composter for my property in the Caribbean. Although it is much smaller then what I expected, it is a good starting point for us. There is no assembly which makes things nice and easy. The design does not encourage rodents, or other unwanted pests. We got to work using it right away and look forward to the end results.Worst composter I've tried so farI'd heard good things about rotating composters, so I decided to give one a try. After looking around a bit, I noticed this one had very good overall ratings. I wish I'd never decided to try it.The catch on the hatch can get pushed out of alignment very easily, particularly when rotating the drum on its base. The compost "tea"-collecting base is so low to the ground that it's nearly impossible to collect unless you want to remove the entire drum and then replace it, which is quite a chore. This is not light when even remotely full, and it has a fair amount of friction against the base, so turning it is actually quite a chore. We had an easier time using a digging fork to turn the compost in a vertical composter. The plastic is of a variety that is definitely not easy to clean of the inevitable bugs, birdcrap, spiderwebs, etc. that collect on it. I would not use this again, and I'd be highly reluctant to use any composter of a remotely similar design. One year laterDuring the short NW summer, this composter did--well--sorta okay. The idea behind it is great. The size is right for my yard. However, the more I read about compost tea, the more I realized that what collected in the container below the composter was not compost tea and would need a lot of aereation to make it into tea. It killed off some of the grass where I used it. The part of my vegetable garden where I used it did not do any better than the part where I did not use it.Once the winter came the composter became a slime maker. Since it does not provide enough air flow to support the break-down of the kitchen scraps and leaves and because I live in a rainy area, it did not heat enough to transform my organic matter into rich compost.. I paid someone to dig a hole and empty the contents into the hole. I bought this because a friend had bought two and was happy with them. She has had the same experience in a different part of town. I gave this product 4 stars when I first got it. Now one year later I am disgusted with it. Product Description#N/ARead more...
