Replaced a long held Krups for much less money.Good coffee, design not so greatAfter reading many of the reviews here, we bought this Cuisinart coffeemaker - and the coffee is really good. Agree with the observations that the water reservoir opening is small and awkwardly placed, and that the filter cup cannot stand up. But the coffee is really good. (We're returning a Mister Coffee we bought because the coffee is bad.)Rusting warmer plate.I bought the coffee maker in January 2009 to replace a Krups, which I had for many years. The Cuisinart had a great review so I took a chance. The coffee maker worked fine, but the warming plate started to rust. I called Cuisinart, as the coffee maker was still under a 3 year warranty. They told me that the rusting warmer plate was cosmetic so they would not repair it. I still had my receipt so I returned the coffee maker (a year old, without the box) to Bed Bath & Beyond. They took it back, no questions asked. With the credit, I bought a different( higher end model) Cuisinart and will be more carefull when cleaning the the warming plate. It the warming plate rusts again, I will go back to Krups.Great budget friendly coffee makerI bought this for myself after going through two cheap coffee makers in 6 months. This machine definitely isn't the fanciest or most expensive, but it gets the job done. I like the 1-4 cup setting (it super heats the water for the smaller amount of coffee) and the fact that you can program both the brew time and the length of time before it shuts itself off. I'm taking away a star for the annoying beeping sound it makes when it's done brewing (you can't turn that off) and because it uses water filters that aren't cheap. The small opening to pour the water into hasn't been an issue for me.An Excellent Coffee Maker !This coffee maker brews excellent tasting coffee. It is easy as pie to program and simple to use. I can't imagine why some people have had problems. I program mine to make coffee at 4:30 a.m. Upon arising at 5 to 5:30, I find a nice, hot, savory pot of coffee waiting. The only negative comment I have is that the cup numbering on the side is very difficult for me to see.
