I did rub it for 30 seconds each on several different suspected items (using 3 different sticks) and after getting no positive results I wasn't convinced I was doing it right. I rubbed it on the inside of an old cabinet which had never been repainted in our 80 year old home and got an instant positive (it was brick red, not reddish or pink) so I know it works. Thankfully that cabinet is well out of baby's reach! It made me feel much better about the purchase!It was worth it.We found lead. She was tested positive, and we stripped and repainted the window.
