I actually like the taste of lead

But my GF says its bad for me so we got this testing kit and started testing stuff around the house.
Unfortunately (Fortunately?) for us we found out our favorite cupcake pan was lead city... lame. I really loved that pan. Some other stuff we used quite often tested positive so thats out the window too. Oh well.
Well, i guess its good to know... but whats that old saying, Ignorance is bliss?

Practical, but no positives yet... maybe thats a good thing :)

These tests are so practical, I took some to the open houses I visited to test the paint chips and dust along the outer metal bars on the windows to see if they were leeching out lead. They do give a sense of security, be it false or true, I can't tell but at least it's better than trusting a gut feeling.

Some people here say they've gotten false positives, and those don't bother me that much, but what do you do about false negatives?

As a parent of an autistic boy, lead dust can lead to behavioral regressions, and I'm sure as hell not letting that happen to my child, so maybe the answer would be to buy two kinds of tests and use them both?

Anyway, I do recommend this product, it's safe and easy to use and WILL give you some peace of mind.

Home Lead Test Kit

Test came back OK, but of course with something like a home kit you can't really be sure everything is OK. Hopefully yes. Seemed to work as advertised.

not sure about the instructions

The kit appears to work but if you read the instructions it seems you can rub it for 30 seconds on, what, each of 4 different things since it is only "activated" for 2 minutes? then if you get a positive you have to guess which one was the one with lead? I did rub it for 30 seconds each on several different suspected items (using 3 different sticks) and after getting no positive results I wasn't convinced I was doing it right. I rubbed it on the inside of an old cabinet which had never been repainted in our 80 year old home and got an instant positive (it was brick red, not reddish or pink) so I know it works. Thankfully that cabinet is well out of baby's reach! It made me feel much better about the purchase!

It was worth it.

We found lead. She was tested positive, and we stripped and repainted the window. Do go to the web site for instructions.
