I decided on Capresso because I heard that it is an excellent coffee maker. It does not live up to it's reputation. The brewed coffee is good but it leaves small gounds on the bottom of my cup. It is also difficult to see how much water you are adding as there is not a measure guide on the exterior of the maker. It certainly isn't worth the money. How I wish Melita did not discontinue their grind and brew!Grinder gets easily blockedThe coffee grinds got clogged up and would not pass through to the coffee machine. While this is a common problem in all grinder/brewer combos, it occurred after just three uses and we were unable to clear it, even with the special brush that was provided.Also, be aware that there is no adjustment for the fineness of grind, just the quantity of beans gorund. So, if you like finely ground beans, this is not for you. Caution - Burrs not Accessible for Cleaning or ServiceFor some reason Capresso has decided to make all of their all-in-one grinder / brewers with the burr grinders locked away inside where they can not be cleaned, inspected and replaced when needed.We own another Capresso Grinder / Brewer and finally found all of the hidden screws to remove to allow thorough cleaning of the grinder. The hardest part is figuring out how to dismantle their puzzle. Unfortunately Capresso has also decided to refuse to sell parts for the machine, except for items such as lids and carafes. When the burrs dull, and they will with regular use, you can either send the unit in for their expensive service or throw it away and buy another one. A quality grinder has replaceable burrs. Capresso grinders do not. great productsuper easy to use. Adjusting the strength of your coffee is very easy. Water tank opening is wide for easy, no mess pour. Grinds coffee beans quickly but just a bit noisy. The best coffee maker I've purchased.Performance Does Not Match LooksI purchased this model on April 10, 2010. My experience with it up until now (3 months in use) has been mixed. The grinder does make noise, however, it is quieter than Capresso's prior models. Normally, the coffee tastes delicious but is not as hot as it should be. That all changes when the water pump just pumps and pumps, taking 20 minutes to pump 2 cups of water. By this time it is WAY TOO HOT to drink. This is not a consistent problem but one that happens 2-3 times weekly. The box is gone, the warranty is up, and I'm $189 in the hole.
